ABOUT US
Uthando Welfare Foundation: A Social Impact Organization Empowering Lives
Uthando Welfare Foundation is a non-profit organization established in 2021 and officially registered in 2022. Our mission is to reach out and provide support to institutions with high needs, particularly those in the disability sector, serving individuals of all ages.
We are deeply committed to assisting centers from underprivileged backgrounds, with a special focus on the deaf, handicapped, and visually impaired communities
It is crucial that specialized schools for visually impaired, deaf, and handicapped students are adequately equipped to meet their needs. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to support school programs, ensuring that institutions have access to essential resources that are often lacking, yet vital for students’ well-being and development.
At Uthando Welfare Foundation, we aim to eliminate self-doubt and restore self-confidence in vulnerable young people, empowering them to lead fulfilled, independent lives.

Programs
Disability Support Program
The Disability Support Program (DSP) serves children, youth and adults with intellectual disabilities, long-term mental illness and physical disabilities in a range of community-based, residential and vocational/day programs. These are voluntary programs designed to support people at various stages of their development and independence.
Education Enrichment Program
The arts have the ability to influence and shape youth’s development on a number of levels – academically, socially and emotionally. Involvement in the arts encourages selfexpression – tapping into their inventiveness and creativity – and is a fun outlet that helps positively stimulate and motivate youth. Arts Education as Enrichment program includes poetry, drama, music and dance used as a platform for self-expression and education.
Eradication of Poverty
Our food donation program provides an alternative to discarding surplus wholesome food by linking food service donors with surplus food to local hunger relief agencies. We do this by creating and maintaining an efficient communication and reporting network that links available sources of food to those in need through these existing charitable organizations.
OUR GOAL IS TO HELP AND PROMOTE QUALITY EDUCATION IN UNDER-RESOURCED CENTRES FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED, DEAF AND BLIND LEARNERS IN SOUTH AFRICА. OUR EDUCATION COMMITTEE ADDRESSES ALL ISSUES CONCERNING EDUCATION.
